MFD has been asked to carry out a comprehensive Threat Assessment and Risk Analysis for Oxford Brookes University, to coincide with a £150m campus redevelopment programme. The first part of the programme will consist of a refurbishment of the School of Built Environment and the construction of a new Student Learning and Teaching Building.
This project involves interviewing University authorities, designers/architects, programme managers and local Police Crime Prevention and Counter Terrorist Security Advisers.
MFD was engaged to design hostile vehicle mitigation for part of the Scottish Parliament complex. The key challenges for the scheme, which were resolved with the installation of crash-rated PAS68 bollards, are summarised below:

The design of hostile vehicle mitigation at British Airports Authority (BAA) Terminal 5 was prepared by MFD, and was to prevent unauthorised vehicular access into the terminal building.

MFD was asked by Portsmouth Water to conduct surveys on a selected sample of their sites to determine whether they were compliant with Government and Water Industry Security Standards.
The surveys were conducted and a detailed report produced, listing the typical requirements for each type of site. Estimated costs were provided as an indicator of what the company would need to set aside to bring their sites up to the required standards within the current and next Asset Management Periods.

The Defence Training Review is the largest PPP project in the UK to date with construction values approaching £1billion. The capital works component of the project provides the living, training and leisure facilities in St Athans for over 10,000 people. MFD has been selected to provide all the security and specialist design to ensure the projects meets the MoD’s specialist requirements.
Providing counter-terrorist measures to protect a number of high profile, high-risk, buildings/premises, including blast protection, CBR mitigation, counter-terrorist measures, physical mitigation and electronic security services. Project values range from £4.2m to £140m.
MFD has been chosen as security consultant for the dramatic extension to the Tate Modern in central London. MFD were appointed to carry out a threat and risk assessment, outline design and, most recently, detail design of the physical and electronic security systems.
